Robert Y. Rhoten joined La Follette, Johnson, DeHaas, Fesler & Ames in 2023 as an associate attorney. Robert’s practice has focused exclusively on the representation of health care practitioners and groups, health maintenance organizations, and health care facilities in medical malpractice, wrongful death, and general liability matters in both court and arbitration. Robert has defended medical providers across all areas of medicine, including but not limited to cases involving surgical care, birth injuries, diagnoses of rare conditions and diseases, pediatric care, and psychiatric care.

Robert received his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management in 2015, received his Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, California in 2018, and became a member of the State Bar of California that same year. While in law school, Robert was a Lead Articles Editor on the Southwestern Law Review and in the top 10% of his class through graduation. Following graduation, he completed a fellowship with the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Robert is also a member of the Southern California Association of Hospital Risk Managers (SCAHRM) and Association of Southern California Defense Counsel (ASCDC).

Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Robert moved to Los Angeles in 2015 and has called it home since. He is an avid reader and, when outside the office, can be found poolside or at the beach with his wife and three daughters.
