Ramon Quintana brings over 39 years of legal experience to his role as a litigation associate at La Follette, Johnson, DeHaas, Fesler & Ames. His career spans criminal defense, public service leadership, and civil litigation, making him one of the firm’s most seasoned practitioners.

Mr. Quintana began his legal career in immigration law before joining the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, where he launched his career as a trial lawyer trying 90 cases before a jury. His trial work included serious felony matters, among them cases involving murder charges. Recognized early for his leadership ability, Mr. Quintana was promoted to management, where he oversaw multiple units handling felony trials, post-conviction work, juvenile matters, and misdemeanor trials.

As a Division Chief, Mr. Quintana played a central role in justice reform efforts that secured $2.3 million in grants from the MacArthur Foundation. These funds supported the development and testing of innovative models designed to deflect arrestees from incarceration through treatment programs. The model was subsequently adopted and implemented by Los Angeles County’s Alternatives to Incarceration Initiative (ATI) agency.

Following his retirement from public service, Mr. Quintana transitioned to civil litigation, where he has defended public agencies in tort matters involving complex cases alleging wrongful death and sexual abuse of minors. At La Follette, Johnson, DeHaas, Fesler & Ames, Mr. Quintana manages all aspects of litigation with a primary focus on defending medical malpractice cases.

Outside the office, Mr. Quintana pursues a keen interest in analytic philosophy through research and writing. He and his wife are avid travelers, and he also enjoys singing and playing acoustic guitar.
